What do you offer?
Documenting the fleeting moments, joyful tears, a loving look from across the room, flowers held on tight, a raised glass, candid's are my all time favourite, telling the story of a precious day. Intimacy and celebration are the two pillars of my approach to photography.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?
Being a non-binary photographer I know being seen is not always straightforward. I want to celebrate all of us and give queer folks images that reflect who they know themselves to be, celebrating love in all its colours and intimacy.
Allyship
From my village in the Scottish Borders, I work to bring the voices of the unseen to the forefront. Being a filmmaker as well as a photographer, I am currently focussing on the lives of rural queers, perpetually forgotten by big cities narratives.
I have worked extensively within the queer community, held queer screenings, fostered spaces to share our experiences and challenges. I have worked with LGBT Youth Scotland to help young people create videos about mental health and homelessness. I have also done photo workshops for queer folks, to increase access to the means of representing ourselves.
Being a queer person myself doesn't mean I know everything about everyone else who is queer, it means I ask and I'm curious. And more importantly, I listen.
