violin by abigail
What do you offer?
It's not just about playing beautiful music - it's about being a calming presence and a supportive ally on your special day. I offer violin for ceremonies, receptions and wedding breakfasts, you get to choose all the songs I play.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?
There are many reasons why I would like to work with the LGBTQ+ community as a wedding musician. I am committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Working with LGBTQ+ couples will broaden my perspective and expose me to a wider range of people and experiences. I feel that it's important to support LGBTQ+ rights and equality, and working with LGBTQ+ couples can be a way of putting those values into action.
I also have a personal connection to the LGBTQ+ community, my daughter is trans and is teaching me all the time that I can make mistakes and still be a good ally. I try every day to become more educated to better understand and make fewer mistakes.
Allyship
It is also about what I don't do. I don't say Bride and groom or presume that the couple are a male and a female. I provide my pronouns and ask my couples theirs. Instead, I use 'couple' and ask the enquirer the name of their partner. I offer multiple aisle entry songs.
I share and follow LGBTQ+ accounts and perspectives, regularly speaking up on behalf of the community in the wider community and on social media.
I am trying to use more language and photos on social media that include all representations of couples.
don't forget to let me know that you found me on Rebel Love Directory!
