Cat the Celebrant & MC
What do you offer?
Cat the Celebrant is a Queer, Qualified, Inclusive Wedding Celebrant & MC specialising in non traditional ceremonies for couples with style, meaning and connection. Female Owned, Queer Led, Exceptional Ceremonies.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?
I have over 15 years of experience working directly with LGBTQ+ communities, families, couples, and organisations. When I made the leap to become an independent celebrant, I knew without a doubt that serving Queer couples would be my primary focus. I hold a deep, nuanced understanding of queer culture and relationships in all their beautiful forms - the unique dynamics, the histories, the vital role of chosen families, and the communities that hold us. That perspective is the heartbeat of my work. This isn't just professional for me; it’s deeply personal. Having planned my own queer, biracial wedding, I know firsthand the complexities of trying to articulate a diverse love story to a celebrant. Getting someone to truly do our relationship justice was, to say the least, hard work. By bringing my lived experience and professional background together, I offer an intuitive shorthand. My couples can instantly relax, knowing their story is in safe, understanding hands from day one.
Allyship
Everything I do, create, and am comes through a Queer lens. Having served LGBTQ+ communities for over a decade, I consider myself an activist rather than an ally, and my career has been defined by creating space, safety, and celebration for our community.
That perspective is woven into every stage of working with my couples — from the language I use in my comms, to the way I work with you, to delivering one hell of a ceremony on the day itself. I consider intersectionality at every stage, and I don’t make assumptions: I don’t assume your pronouns, that your family will be attending, that you’re marrying someone of a particular gender, that you’ll be wearing a specific item of clothing, or that your rituals and traditions will look a certain way.
My commitment to our community also extends far beyond my work. Wherever possible, I fiercely champion, buy from, and signpost people towards queer-owned businesses, creatives, and services. For me, inclusion isn’t a marketing trend or a box to tick — it’s the whole reason I became a celebrant.
So when you hire me, you aren’t just booking a celebrant. You’re bringing a champion of queer joy, history, and community into your love story — someone who understands that the freedom to celebrate your love openly has been hard-won, and thinks that deserves to be celebrated too.
