Smartly Said - Professional Civil Celebrant
What do you offer?
Smartly Said creates unique, meaningful ceremonies that reflect who you are and what matters most to you. Whether it’s a wedding, vow renewal, or naming day, I work with clients to craft a ceremony that feels personal, authentic, and memorable – never scripted, always heartfelt, spoken smartly.
Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?
I’m passionate about creating ceremonies that feel truly personal, authentic, and inclusive. Working with the LGBTQ+ community (my people!) means helping people celebrate life’s big moments exactly as they wish - without limits, labels, or expectations. Everyone’s story is unique, and I’m here to make sure it’s honoured with warmth, respect and individuality.
Allyship
As chairperson of the LGBTQ+ network in my corporate role, I actively work to create inclusive spaces, influence policy, and provide support for colleagues across the business. I’m a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, ensuring representation and visibility wherever possible. I regularly represent at Pride events, speak up on issues affecting the community, and champion the use of inclusive language and correct pronouns in all areas of my work. For me, allyship means consistent action – challenging discrimination, amplifying voices, and ensuring everyone feels seen, respected, and valued.
Representation and inclusion are central to how I run my business, but I know there’s always more to do. I consciously use diverse imagery across my website and social media to ensure LGBTQ+ individuals see themselves reflected in the ceremonies I create.
My naming ceremonies, for example, are not limited to babies - they are designed for anyone affirming their identity, including trans and non-binary people. That said, I’m aware there’s still work to be done to represent an even broader range of communities and experiences. I’m committed to continuing to learn, to seek out opportunities to showcase more diversity in my portfolio, and to ensure that every person who works with me feels welcomed, respected, and celebrated for who they are.
