RELAXED SUMMER QUEER WEDDING IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
At Rebel Love Directory, we plan to keep shouting about love in it's entirety - especially when it comes to queer lovers reframing what the 'cis-drenched' wedding industry looks like. So, gather round and alert the GAY-elders, as we dive into another fabulous queer love story submitted by one of our wonderfully inclusive suppliers.
This week, we have an exclusive invite to Becca (She/Her) & Aitch's (They/Them) wedding, a relaxed and queer-licious affair located in the heart of Buckinghamshire. Their beautiful queer love story was submitted by Kaleido Weddings, who as the name suggests, captures colourful and outrageously mesmerising moments you'll find yourself captivated by all day.

Let's start at the beginning. How long have you been together and how did you meet?
We met online and were friends for a while. We've been together for 5 years.
Can you paint us a picture of your proposal?
It went awry! The ring didn’t come when expected so H told me. When it arrived H asked if I wanted there and then or if they should do it “properly”. I was too impatient and accepted it there and then. When I proposed I attached the ring to our dog and sent her to H (our dog was also a ring bearer).
Let's get on to the big day. Where did you get married?
Was there an overall vibe you were going for?
Relaxed, late summer vibes.

Were there any traditions you put your own twist on?
The ring bearer was our dog.
We had an “I do crew” instead of the alt.
We got ready together and did our vows privately.
That sounds incredible! Did you use suppliers from the Rebel Love Directory?
We did! We also went to the first fair after winning tickets from Tanisha (Lovestruck Celebrant). I honestly couldn’t fault anyone at all. They were all phenomenal. Tanisha captured our love story perfectly and Rosie Roberts Beauty and Katie made us feel amazing. I’ve never felt comfy in front of a camera until we met Kaleido (Kaleido Weddings), and Kirsty (Offthahook2) got my brother on the dance floor (he does not dance).

Did you face any challenges when planning your wedding?
We had some vendors suddenly stop replying when we mentioned it was a queer wedding.
We're so sorry you experienced that - a big fat middle finger to those vendors. If you could live one moment from your wedding on repeat, what would it be?
Doing the vows by ourselves privately.
And finally, what advice would you give to LGBTQ+ to-be-weds currently planning their wedding?
Make sure one of you is organised. Get your vendors sorted early, then you can do the fun bits. Making sure we worked with LGBTQ+ vendors was great, they were all so understanding and kind and understood the difficulties we faced.
