What do you offer?

Submarine Studios creates bespoke stationery, signage, and decor for fun and alternative weddings. From save the dates and invites, to seating charts and fun decorative touches, I can make it beautiful and personal!

Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?

I love working with the LGBTQ+ community. As a queer woman creating and collaborating with LGBTQ+ couples is so affirming and fun. Creating bespoke designs that speak to who you are and your love stories is such a privilege to me.

Allyship

I include my pronouns in my email signature (personal and business) to normalise sharing them, and to let gender non-conforming and trans clients know I am safe and will respect their identities. I make donations to Sahir House, an LGBTQ+ and HIV charity in Liverpool. On multiple occasions I have unfortunately had to escort trans friends, and even strangers to bathrooms to help them feel safe, and on one occasion defend them when berated. Unfortunately my disabilities preclude me from attending protests, but I'm active in other ways through petitions and writing to my MP/councillors.

I stay away from gendered language when describing my services eg. I don't say Mr & Mrs, bride and groom best man/woman etc. I also apply this to my house designs, and use gender neutral names for a lot of my example designs, but where I use names that are more traditionally masculine or feminine, I use an even mix of genders and sexualities in my couple's names. I don't want anyone to feel they can't see themselves in my work, and do everything I can to make everyone feel safe and comfortable with me as part of their wedding journey. I also keep a list of vendors that I have personally worked with that I know are safe for LGBTQ+ couples, so that I can give couples a personal recommendation. I'm always super open to suggestions on how to be more inclusive!

don't forget to let me know that you found me on Rebel Love Directory!
