What do you offer?

Kipper & Chalk creates bespoke suits in an accessible way. We are a London-based tailoring house with many queer and non-binary customers. We offer a safe space for people who have felt unwelcome or in any way put off by traditional tailors. Whether it is a conversation about binding on the big day or the potential body dysmorphia which may arise with choosing what you wear, or just wanting a friendly face to discuss your ideas with, Kipper & Chalk would love to help.

Why do you want to work with the LGBTQ+ community?

We enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community for many reasons. It's always fun if we get to dress both people in a couple so that we get to know them together and see their relationship. Often queer weddings are less stuffy and traditional which means the clothes we are asked to make are more interesting. But most of all because it is incredibly joyous to see someone who has experienced body dysphoria enjoy their clothes and feel comfortable and excited about what they are wearing. Tailors haven’t always been inclusive spaces but we hope that everyone will find Kipper & Chalk to be welcoming and warm.

Allyship

We always inquire about a customer's preferred pronouns, we make sure to make accommodations in the measuring process for bindings, and we have been an active supporter of the Quailors, a group of queer tailors, taking part in their pride celebrations.

While we could always be doing more, I hope that the LGBTQ+ community feel included in K&C through our language, the customers we choose to spotlight on our social media and our vocal support of queer issues, most recently in relation to same-sex IVF rules.
