Our Queer Love Stories: Arianna & Amy
At Rebel Love Directory, we believe every queer wedding deserves to be seen, celebrated, and remembered for all the colour, creativity, and love it holds. That’s why we created our Our Queer Love Stories series: to showcase LGBTQ+ couples, uplift the incredible suppliers who make their days possible, and provide authentic representation for nearly-weds planning their own celebrations.
This week, we’re diving into the unforgettable wedding of Arianna (she/her) and Amy (they/them) - a couple who brought pure joy, humour, and queer brilliance to every part of their journey. Their story was submitted to us by Hannah from Cherry & Fern Celebrations, a recommended Rebel Love Directory supplier who led their ceremony and created what Arianna and Amy described as “the best part of the day.” From a proposal PowerPoint featuring plastic babies and guinea pig skirts, to a Met Gala meets Eurovision wedding day complete with a Barbie car ring delivery and a six-foot cat effigy, their story is nothing short of iconic.

Let's start at the beginning. How long have you been together and how did you meet?
We have been together for about 3 and a half years. We met on Tinder <3
Can you paint us a picture of your proposal?
Picture this, we're in the Norfolk countryside in a converted barn surrounded by deer and other wildlife such as white peacocks and chickens. It's Sunday morning and Amy asks me to go upstairs and put something nice on. I wear my favourite skirt which has a picture of 2 guinea pigs on it; they ask me to wait upstairs whilst they get something ready. When I come down, Amy has set up a powerpoint on the TV. In this ppt is the story of our relationship which includes an ultrasound with our cat photoshopped on to it and a bar chart of how many maths GCSE's I've sat (3 if you're curious, it's a long story). Towards the end there is a slide which says 360 feedback before possible promotion. By this point I know Amy is about to propose. A couple of slides later, Amy asks me to close my eyes. I press down hard on them, so hard that when I open them I can't see :'( but I can make out a ring and a sign which says "will you marry me? No worries if not!" and the sign is fringed with tiny plastic babies. Of course, I cry and say yes! Then I skuttle away, slipping on the floor as I run to the bathroom to get the ring I had hidden in my soap bag and in Amy's words "revenge proposed".
Let's get on to the big day. Where did you get married?
AMP Studios in Peckham/ New Cross, 5 minutes from our house!
Was there an overall vibe you were going for?
Met gala meets Eurovision, camp basically
Were there any traditions you put your own twist on?
We had our rings delivered to us in a barbie car with a Barbie that looked like me and a Ken that looked like Amy.
Did you have any elements that were unique to your love story?
Amy made a 6ft effigy of our cat made out of plaster of paris and multi-coloured yarn.
Tell us about the suppliers you chose from the Rebel Love Directory and your experience with them
Liza O'Malley - wonderful woman, perfect for our day! Did our day justice but also was just lovely to be around!
Hannah from Cherry and Fern Celebrations - delivered the most incredible ceremony, frankly best part of the day!
Ceilidhs with Lisa - did a brilliant job of the ceilidh despite everyone being terrible dancers
Did you face any challenges when planning your wedding?
No! other than being skint afterwards
If you could live one moment from your wedding on repeat, what would it be?
The ceremony!!
And finally, what advice would you give to LGBTQ+ couples currently planning their wedding?
